People in their 40s are a different breed than they were in their 20s. They’re more settled in their careers, they have families (not me though ,lol), and they have different priorities. So, where do they go to hang out when they want to relax and have some fun?

The answer is, it depends. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as people’s interests and preferences vary greatly. However, there are some general trends that can be observed.

Popular Hangouts for People in Their 40s

  • Breweries and Wineries: Many people in their 40s enjoy craft beer and wine. Breweries and wineries are often seen as more sophisticated and relaxed than bars and clubs, making them a popular choice for this age group.
  • Live Music Venues: People in their 40s often grew up listening to live music, and they still enjoy it today. Live music venues offer a great way to socialize and enjoy some good music.
  • Art Galleries and Museums: People in their 40s are often more interested in culture than they were in their 20s. Art galleries and museums offer a great way to learn about something new and appreciate art.
  • Coffee Shops: Coffee shops are a great place to relax, chat with friends, or get some work done. They’re also a popular spot for people in their 40s to meet up for business meetings or casual dates. group of friends in their 40s enjoying coffee and conversation at a local coffee shop
  • Outdoor Activities: Many people in their 40s enjoy spending time outdoors. Hiking, biking, and camping are all popular activities for this age group.

Why People in Their 40s Love These Places

There are several reasons why people in their 40s enjoy hanging out at these places.

  • They offer a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere. People in their 40s are often looking for places to relax and unwind. Breweries, wineries, live music venues, art galleries, and coffee shops all offer a more relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere than bars and clubs. They also don’t flock in the recently opened shops, they prefer shops with not so many people but has good coffee and food. They have this level of likeness that they are not willing to compromise to what is famous.
  • They provide opportunities to socialize and meet new people. People in their 40s still enjoy socializing and meeting new people. These places offer opportunities to do both in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
  • They cater to their interests. People in their 40s often have more developed interests than they did in their 20s. These places cater to a wide range of interests, so people in their 40s are sure to find something they enjoy.
  • They offer a chance to learn and grow. People in their 40s are often still looking to learn and grow. Art galleries, museums, and outdoor activities all offer opportunities to learn about new things and experience new things.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of where people in their 40s hang out. However, the places listed above are all popular choices for this age group. They offer a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, opportunities to socialize and meet new people, and cater to a wide range of interests. So, if you’re in your 40s and looking for a new place to hang out, check out one of these places. You might just find your new favorite spot.

I hope this blog post has been helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions. And I’m turning 40 this year by the way. hehehe so yeah, hello there!

Hey there, fabulous ladies! Let’s talk about a question that might have crossed your mind: “I’m 40 – is it too late to start investing in myself?” The answer? Absolutely not! In fact, it’s the perfect time to embrace this journey of self-investment and self-love.

Here are seven reasons why:

  • Wisdom and Experience: At 40, you bring a treasure trove of wisdom and experience. Every challenge you’ve faced and triumph you’ve celebrated has shaped you into the resilient, capable woman you are today.
  • Financial Empowerment: Investing in yourself financially at this age can yield incredible returns. Whether it’s saving for retirement, exploring new career avenues, or diving into investments, the financial world is yours to conquer.
  • Self-Discovery: This is a prime time for self-discovery. You’ve honed your skills, but now is the moment to explore passions you might have set aside. Take that art class, start writing, or travel to a place that ignites your soul.
  • Health and Wellness: Prioritize your well-being. Investing in your health, both physical and mental, sets the stage for a vibrant, fulfilling life ahead. Exercise, mindfulness, and self-care routines are powerful investments.
  • Career Reinvention: Feeling unfulfilled in your career? It’s never too late to pivot. Consider further education, entrepreneurship, or pursuing a new career path. Your experience is an asset waiting to be unleashed.
  • Community and Connection: Invest in relationships. Surround yourself with positive influences, mentors, and a supportive community. Networking at this stage can open doors you never knew existed.
  • Self-Love: Lastly, and most importantly, invest in self-love. Celebrate your strengths, embrace your flaws, and know that your journey is uniquely yours. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion.

Ladies, you’ve dedicated years to enriching the lives of others through your work and commitment. Now, it’s time to turn that dedication inward and invest in yourself. Embrace this milestone with open arms and watch how the investment in yourself pays the best dividends.

Here’s to thriving at 40 and beyond, loving ourselves, and embracing the journey ahead!

Cheers,

Xyza

Hello guys, I’m back! It’s been a year since the last time this site is up. If you didn’t know, this blog got defaced for some reason I don’t know. It was targeted by hackers and took down everything.

I wasn’t able to recover everything, nope, even the back up files seems to don’t work now. We’ll I guess we just have to move on and live the past behind. Though I was able to recover some travel blogs until 2019 posts. I find it funny because it seems like the entire pandemic blogs got totally erased.

This draft have been sitting for a while. Started writing this post in January 2023 and now it’s December already! hahaha. So let me just try to update this and post as soon as I can.

Oh well, that’s fine. We’ll just have to move forward and share new stories. So here’s a life update from me;

Still Single

Hahaha what an update! Yup nothing has changed. hehehe grew older, smarter and better anyways. I’m currently committed to seven (7) Korean men, who claims to be normal but not really. There’s thirteen (13) men too and some younger idols. Oh well, staying delulu is the solulu I guess! lol

Whatever I saved during the pandemic where I guess all spent to Kpop. I loved them even since before but it is only lately that I have been very much willing (and maybe able) to spend much. Mental Health priorities, I guess.

Earned a Second Bachelors Degree

I took advantage of the pandemic and studied online. I enrolled in an online class thru Brokers Spaces (BBSI)-Lyceum of Alabang. I took up Bachelors Degree of Real Estate Management. Graduated last February 2022 and officially celebrated our graduation last August 2022 held at PICC Manila.

Regrets I have a lot during this time. I’ll share it in a separate blogpost then. hehe

Earned Two Professional License in 1 year

I took the Licensure exam last April 12, 2022 for Real Estate Brokers and Licensure Exam for Real Estate Appraisers last September 7, 2022. I only dreamed of getting one PRC License and was so blessed to earn two in a year. The exam was not really easy for me. If you only knew the challenges I encountered while preparing for the exam, but God is so good. Thank you dear God for this.

Update: Wow, I sometimes wonder I took these licenses in the first place. hahaha It’s getting me crazy really. Lol. With the current situation in the Philippines, it is very challenging having this profession really. It does sounds promising, compensation wise, but the load of work is wew overwhelming for me. But of course, it takes time and practice. Educating the people about the in and out of real estate is fun and full filling, it is the “changing the mindset” part that is very challenging most especially for people who are already used to the old, crooked ways.

Life has been good, it is full of challenges, but we are winning it. I miss blogging so much. I haven’t been able to unload my thoughts and feelings for a while. I’m welcoming 2023(update: and ending since it’s December already), with this life update and I’m hoping and praying that this is the start of my blogs new era.

Mature roles na this! haha ’til next time.

Life is full of surprises! We unexpectedly closed 2022 in a different way. It was something I bet, every family wouldn’t want to experience. But we did, it was sudden and unexpected.

Let me just give you a background story.

First quarter of 2022, my grandfather “Papa Sano” was with us in Iligan because he cannot stand and cannot walk, he was in so much pain so he was brought to Iligan for a check-up. We also had him get a chiropractor and indeed he was relived and was able to walk by himself again.

Second quarter of 2022, we had to bring him back to Medina, Mis Or because of election and because mom had to do a surgery. She won’t be able to attend to Papa’s need while she’s recovering.

Third quarter of 2022, it was his birthday last September 5, 2022. They had their first grand reunion for the Bajao-Olivar Clan. I wasn’t been able to join them because I’m preparing for a board exam on September 7, 2022.

Fourth quarter of 2022, November 30 after my cousins debut party, we were surprised when mom brought Papa with her back in Iligan City. It was very unexpected and we were surprised. Papa wants to come with her because he’s feeling some pain and wants to get a check-up. To be honest, we were surprised when they arrived with him. We have to cut our plans because we can’t just leave the two of them alone at home. Since it’s already December and events are back, we have to miss some events because of course we have to attend to our Seniors.

One night Papa was complaining that his right side of the stomach is so painful. Suspecting that it’s just stubborn air we wipe some oil on it but was surprised how he clinch in pain. I was scheduled for a chiro session that day so I said, we’ll try chiro again maybe it will stop the pain. But after a chiro session, he was still complaining with pain until we get home. We asked mom to schedule a check-up with his doctor to see what is wrong with him.

After almost a week, I returned home from work and was asked to drive them to the doctors clinic for check up. I didn’t know it will also be the day that I’ll see Papa in good condition. The moment they reach the doctor for check up, the doctor advised us for admission. I drove them to the hospital for admission. And I hate scenes like this. We were in the hospital were dad was last admitted. Ever since Dad’s passing, I hate hospitals, which I used to like visiting.

Tests were ran and the day after, his true condition was explained briefly by the specialist. The same specialist that was taking care of Dad. He was honest enough about the possible progressions of papa’s condition. Mom’s siblings were already called to make decisions ahead for them to prepare for the worst. After few days in the hospital they decide to just go home for home palliative care. So I drive them home from the hospital and we went home.

And that was the last time I drove Papa home. A day after, while we were buying things to make him comfortable at home, Papa went unresponsive. We received a destress call from home because he was no longer responding. we had to call 911 to rush him to the hospital because we can’t carry him by ourselves. He survived that scary call but it was very challenging for us to look for a hospital that will accept him in his condition. We went to 3 hospitals (just like what happened to dad) before we were able to get a room in a private hospital. We got lucky that time, because there was a patient who was transferred to the ICU that’s why we got a private room for Papa. He was really recovering and was looking okay until that one night. One last night that he started having a problem breathing. We were asked to sign a waiver for intubation. Papa died December 18, 2022.

I didn’t expect 2022 would end like this. I celebrated Christmas alone, because the whole family is in Medina. I’m suppose to follow them but weather did not permit. I was suppose to be in his funeral, but I couldn’t because weather did not permit. There is so much pain and guilt within me. That’s why I’m letting this out now. I didn’t see papa in his last days. I wasn’t with Papa even in his last vigil. I love Papa, and yes I love him so much. At home he will always look for me. Am I that bad not being present in his wake?

This question may hunt me forever. I’m sorry Pa.

I am in Cebu City for Sinulog 2019. I have been back and forth Cebu since 2005 when I started working. But believe me or not, I have never explored Cebu and even Cebu City on my own. Even if we have team outings and adventures before, it never occurred to me to even visit even the nearest tourist destinations of Cebu.

Now, since I’m here for a week, right after Sinulog we try to explore the new and the old tourist destinations of Cebu and tried the half-day tour. Now, this is a Do-it-your-own itinerary. We booked a taxi as our ride for the whole day (P2,500 for 4hours; entrance fees not included).

SIRAO FLOWER FARMS

  • ENTRANCE FEE: 50.00 pesos
  • PARKING FEE: 20.00 pesos

There are 2 famous farms in Sirao. You can pick either of the two. Most of the drivers know where this is. It’s more of a sight-seeing tour. Okay for seniors but active kids may find it boring though. If you have kids with you, make sure to hold them tight and brief them before going in. There may be some slippery portions and mostly downhill.

You might want to dig in some grilled bananas, we call them “ginanggang” in Iligan and some sweet corn!

 TEMPLE OF LEAH

  • Entrance Fee: 50.00 pesos
  • Parking Fee:
  • Sight-seeing tour
I am in awe about this gigantic structure made out of love. The materials used really amazed me. People dub it as the “Taj Mahal” of the Philippines.
The seniors (elders) might have difficulties going up and down the slope entrance, you may request the guard to drop off the senior at the second entrance instead.

The place and the view are absolutely Instagrammable.
If you’re hungry grab some hotdogs! I mean the edible ones 😂😂😂
PS: Don’t bring food inside or pay for corkage.

TAOIST TEMPLE

  • Entrance Fee: FREE
  • Parking Fee: FREE

Taoist Temple is not really a tourist destination. But it is well known for many as it has been granting wishes even to the non-Taoist.

People say that even if they are non-Taoist they prayed and made an offering to the Gods and granted wishes. Students who are about to take their board exams, people praying for healing and couples asking for a child come here to pray.
Observe silence and don’t take pictures of the altar.
After Taoist Temple, we head to Ayala Terraces for grocery and a fun dinner at Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant at Apple One Tower.

DIY Tour Expenses:
================
Taxi for 5 hours: 2,500.00 (3 pax) >>> This is too expensive I think… do you think so? Please comment below
Sirao Entrance Fee: 50.00 x 3 = 150.00
Temple of Leah Entrance Fee: 50.00 x 3 = 150.00
Parking Fees: 20.00
Hotdogs: 80.00 x 3 = 240.00
Grilled Banana (ginanggang) : 20.00 x 3 = 60.00
Sweet Corn: 50.00
Water: 20.00 x 4 = 80.00
==============================
Total Expense: 3,250.00 or 1,083.00 pesos each

If you notice the photos are really dark, it was a gloomy and rainy afternoon. But “laag” has to happen. hehe

I hope you enjoyed this blog and feel free to drop some comments and suggestions in the comment box below.

I have lived almost half of my life in Iligan City and we have been crossing Lanao del Norte ever since I was born. My dad is from Misamis Occidental and my mom is from Misamis Oriental. We live in Marawi City and then Iligan City. Lanao is always a beauty. Before we reach MisOc we pass by Lanao del Norte municipalities and haven’t really visited and discovered secrets and beauty in each of the Municipalities.

Many groups attempted to conquer Lanao del Norte and it’s municipalities because of its beauty. Good governance plays a big role. As far as I can remember since the Dimaporo’s governed the Province, there’s peace and order in place and recognizable developments. Lanao del Norte, I mean Mindanao as a whole has been suffering from this stigma of peace and order issues ever since. The recent siege in Marawi (although it’s in Lanao del Sur) greatly affected the entire Mindanao most especially Lanao del Norte.

My recent visit was amazing, and I honestly didn’t expect it to really be. I saw it’s a beauty as raw as it is and meet the amazing people. Noticeable developments and improvements show that Lanao del Norte has been governed well. Take Tubod, Lanao del Norte for example. Even the farthest and inner places or hinterlands have well cemented and wide roads. We went to beaches, lakes, and waterfalls and the roads leading to these destinations are very impressive.

LAND OF BEAUTY AND BOUNTY

Accommodation

We were booked at the MCC Hotel or the Mindanao Civic Center Hotel, which is located just next to the Mindanao Civic Center itself. It is run by the government so they are generating income from it, other than the used rental of MCC. So don’t be confused when you see staff in uniform just like that of any government employee of the Province. More detailed information about MCC Hotel will be posted in another dedicated post.

Destinations

During the visit, I have talked to the people of Lanao del Norte and they have mentioned that LDN was way-way better today. They have a convention center which Iligan City doesn’t have.  A decent hotel and resorts, tourist destinations that are not touristy and NO ENTRANCE FEES. I really envy them for being to enjoy nature as raw as it is and for free. Of course, cottages and rides are not included but you can still enjoy it for a minimal fee, but I mean if you don’t really have to use them, you can simply swim and enjoy the view with no money spent.

SND Beach [Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte]

  • FREE Entrance
  • Use of Cottage and Inflatables are with a minimal fee

La Libertad Lake Adventure [Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte]

    • Paddleboat ride
    • Fishing
    • Sightseeing

Cathedral Falls [Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte]

    • Swim
    • sight-seeing

Mindanao Civic Center [Tubod, Lanao del Norte]

Dapit-Alim House of Worship [Tubod, Lanao del Norte]

Dapit Alim means a place for healing. Devotees believe that the place has a miracle that sick people come here and pray for healing.

Pagayawan waterfalls [Bacolod, Lanao del Norte]

Longest Boardwalk and Fish Sanctuary of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte

They have been enjoying minimal fees in their electricity and water supplies. And most of all, security and progress that is very evident in their municipalities. According to one resident I have talked to during the visit, they feel loved and comfortable with the government of Lanao del Norte for many years now and the recent talks about the inclusion of some Lanao del Norte municipalities in the new law for Mindanao fear them that it may cause or lead to misunderstanding and chaos to the people of Lanao del Norte. As someone who has friends and relatives in LDN, I have the same fear and doubts about it too. Thus everyone in the province is encouraged to go out and vote in the nearing plebiscite.

      Food

      • Andrew’s Pizza (Tubod, Lanao del Norte)

      • Soy Cafe & Diner (Maranding, Lanao Del Norte)

      • Campilan Bakery and Barbecue (Maranding, Lanao del Norte)

      Other Province owned initiatives ;
      • Provincial Capitol of Lanao del Norte

      • Provincial Ceramic Center

It’s my first time here. I didn’t know that Ceramic Jars is a distinct product of Lanao del Norte.
      • Provincial Pasalubong Center

I really envy the province for having a provincial pasalubong center that houses the many local products of Lanao del Norte.
      • Provincial Tourism Office

In one of our official office trips in Davao, it would be too boring if there is no detour. From official trips, detours are important to keep yourself sane. Ahahahaha okay, that’s a big alibi from me. But this is one of the nice detours I had. I don’t really drive, I am the ultimate “pasahero” of all time. I can feed you, keep you awake and do the navigation, but I don’t have the courage to drive. So yup, during one of our trip to Davao City, on our way home we checked out BEMWA Farms in Arakan Davao.

While on our way home, I was checking Google Maps to check for the location of Bemwa Farm. The funny thing is, while on the road, Mobile signals are unreliable. We stopped for a while for lunch in one of the roadside carenderia, ate and left without asking for directions for Bemwa Farm. After eating we drove off and continue our search since we couldn’t really find the corner where we are supposed to turn, we asked a lady walking in the roadside. She gave us the direction and to our surprise, the road is exactly where the carenderia is. we couldn’t stop ourselves from laughing.
I hope you’ll enjoy watching the video. I’m super new in video editing so please bear with me. hehe.
      Entrance Fee: 50.00
      What activities you can do while on the farm;
      1. Buy fresh produce.
      2. Take photos
      3. Try their organic meals
      4. try their organic Ice cream
      and probably a lot more.
PS: You will be visiting a farm. Don’t expect for other extreme touristy activities because this is really a farm. 🙂

This time is quite different because we have a clan with us and instead of traveling in a barge, they chose to do land trip which is really quite far and time-consuming. But none the less we enjoyed our time there.

      sibs, cousins, aunt, and grannie

The lights display this year is different. It’s not as grandiose compared to the previous years. They have fewer participants and lesser crowd this year.

These are few decent shots I got during the visit. After the fireworks display, we head back to Iligan City via Aurora in the middle of the night. It was a risky decision on our part. We were not able to catch the last trip of the barge in Ozamiz. We decided to go back to Tangub City and land trip to Iligan City.

I do not recommend this route at all. Since the road is so dark and you’ll be passing by inhabited roads. In case of emergency, no one can see you and help you out immediately.

The place is picturesque and it’s nice in photos and videos. It has been talked about in social media sites lately because of its infinity pool effect. It is located in Libertad, Misamis Oriental.

It has two (2) swimming pools; 1 for adult and 1 for kids. They do have standby staff or lifeguards to watch over the guests on the pool.

      Accommodation Options:

Rate 4,500 to 4,900 per room good for 6 pax. It comes with a complimentary 365ml water, entrance and pool use. BREAKFAST NOT INCLUDED. (as of this writing 06.2018)

They also have a dormitory that is good for 20 pax for 14,000. With that rate still breakfast is not included. 🙁

Entrance Fee: 295 per person (kids and adult)
The fee includes pool use. No complimentary drinks or whatsoever.

Their Beach area is not good for swimming since it’s rocky and full of corals. The sea is quite a bit rough when we were there, so swimming is not advisable.

The place is nice and the staff is friendly. They just need to work on their systems and rates. They also have open cottages for rent for day use.

We are hoping that service and amenities will improve in time as soon as they finish their developments. So far, a lot of people has been eyeing the place for weddings. As it is really romantic to be wed on the beach. Their big cottage is probably prepared for that. The cottage that we used can probably occupy 50 to 100 pax with tables and chairs.
